Assistant Director of Structural Engineering/Director of Structural Engineering
The position is initially for the position of Assistant Director of Structural Engineering which is anticipated to transition into the role of Director of Structural Engineering within a ~12-month timeframe.

Job Duties:
- Responsibilities include serving as department head for structural engineering design and management of projects and staff. Tasks include preparation and review of calculations and design drawings pertaining to structural elements associated with Phase I and Phase II (design) project deliverables. Additional responsibilities include budget management and preparation of invoices as applicable to assigned/managed projects along with proposal (RFP/RFQ/SOI/SOQ/et. al) preparation and participation in project team interviews as required.
- Serve as Structural Engineer for roadway/transportation design projects for IDOT, INDOT, or Local Agency (Municipality, Divisions of Transportation) projects, either locally funded or state/federally funded
- Provide guidance, leadership and training to design team (structural engineers, technicians)
- Communicate design to clients, as required, including IDOT/INDOT Bridge Office
- Preparation of all structural calculations and design plans for
- Retaining Walls
- Box Culverts
- Bridges (single or multi-span), simple or complex
- Junction Chambers
- Type, Size, & Location (TS&L) plans
- Perform Structural Inspections consistent with IDOT/AASHTO standards
- Oversee projects according to schedules, budgets, and customer requirements.
- Regional (Chicago Metro area) travel occasionally required to project site or client meetings – mileage reimbursement eligible per State of Illinois policy
- Calculation of project quantities
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (desired)
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois (required)
- Registered Structural Engineer in the State of Illinois (required)
- Fully Eligible to Work in U.S.
- 10+ years professional structural engineering design experience
- Excellent written and oral communications
- Excellent organizational and management skills
- Ability to lead teams in a collaborative environment
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Structural design software use as required
