Provide professional on-site customer maintenance and minor repair of injection molding machinery within the fleet. Provide in-house and on-site Field Service Engineer support for new machine order activities including machine modifications, prep-to-ship activities, and on-site installation and commissioning. Assist the Technical Advisor on service, modification and internal training.

Cross Train in Field Service Functions:
  • Perform on-site preventive machine maintaince functions.
  • Perform on-site field modifications and/or minor repair or replacement of components resulting from QA actions.
  • Work with engineering, parts, and service management group to provide support to resolve escalated field problems.
  • Provide machine pre-commissioning preparation and testing assistance in-house.
  • Provide on-site support for other service staff for machine start-up and installation.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures at all times.
  • Develop and maintain safe habits and work practices in compliance with company and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all materials, tools, and equipment provided are kept safe and secure and all are calibrated and in good working order.
  • Service and modification inventory maintenance, tooling, emulators, returned service parts, etc.
  • Active participant in service training and use of FieldAware.
  • Active participant in all internal training classes and technical center locations.

After training period, assist the Technical Advisor on service, modification, and internal training:
  • Assist the Technical Advisor with training local service staff to increase their ability and knowledge for aftersales of all electric injection molding machines.
  • Assist the Technical Advisor in directing onsite service work.
  • Assist the Technical Advisor in directing the modification work.
  • Assist the Technical Advisor with giving technical advice to sales on options for machines.
  • Communicate with SHI Japan regarding special customer requirement options as needed.
  • Assist and teach SDNA personnel in cross training our service staff, furthering our knowledge of SE series modifications (software/hardware), and accurate machine specification requests for quotation and aftersales modification.

  • Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering degree (4 year).
  • General understanding  and/or certification in hydraulics and electronics with two years of related experience in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic functionality.
  • Basic print and schematic reading of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic documentation.
  • Knowledge of C+ and digital basics.
  • Minimal travel averaging less than 40 - 50% of working hours for national service calls (when required), and general service support during technician period.
  • Proficient in computer use and skills with basic Microsoft office applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have and maintain a reliable working vehicle at all times and posses a personal basic tool kit.
  • Ability to speak and understand Japanese preferred.
