The Business Development Manager develops and implements sales and growth strategies to ensure strong, committed customer relationships and mutually beneficial partnerships to increase product sales and profitability. The primary focus is to seek out and develop exciting new business opportunities. This role requires close interaction with multiple internal departments. The ability to work cross culturally and cross functionally is necessary.

  • Marketing – Ability to identify and expand company brand and awareness.
  • Business Development – Identify and target potential business opportunities, manage and cultivate customer accounts within assigned territories, work with assigned outside Sales Representatives to establish territory strategy and drive sales growth. Work in a team environment; develop and execute a sales plan, in alignment with company mission and, strategic vision.
  • Assess industry business trends to capitalize on emerging opportunities for business growth.
  • Relationship Building – Work with and across formal and informal professional networks to build long-term partnerships and connections in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Negotiation Skills – Active listening needs assessment and present vision to build a consensus.
  • Analytical Skills – Identify, research, and demonstrate logical reasoning to communicate critical information.
  • Rational Persuasion – Present key factors, influencing factors, and strategic goals to assist stakeholders in identifying solutions.
  • Agility – Meet objectives by responding to competing and changing priorities and multiple tasks under inflexible timelines.

  • Existing knowledge of the aerospace and defense marketplace and the demonstrated ability to quickly ramp-up and build that experience on-the-job.
  • Develop expertise in products to enable the sale of these products to prospective customer.
  • Generate leads, qualify prospects, and secure new business opportunities for products.
  • Manage assigned territory business relationships and work with local Sales Representatives to ensure customer support expectations are achieved.
  • Perform appropriate prospecting activities to identify qualified prospects for new business development.
  • Develop and provide competitive intelligence on competing firms.
  • Establish effective relationships with internal associates and external customers to grow an effective business team to expand presence and business growth.
  • Drive top-line revenue growth through professional, consultative, and proactive interactions with all levels of customers ranging from key decision makers to front-line employees.
  • Collaborate with appropriate internal resources to develop comprehensive sales presentation materials tailored to the customer.
  • Conduct formal sales presentations and follow-up calls to prospective new business accounts.
  • Use a proactive, consultative sales strategy to effectively overcome customer objections and maximize sales effectiveness.
  • In collaboration with Business Development Management, develop effective proposals and persuasively close new business opportunities.
  • Ensure proposals meet minimum standards for profitability.
  • Follow up on submitted information (i.e., inquiries, RFPs, proposals, etc.) as appropriate.
  • Provide direct customer support and immediately respond to customer needs to meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain documentation of sales activities in CRM, in order to facilitate appropriate reporting of customer contacts, notes, opportunities, and sales pipeline.
  • Accurately forecast monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue streams. Attend and contribute to sales meetings.
  • Contribute to the growth of by contributing to the overall strategy of the company.
  • At all times, demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior and personal integrity.
  • Operate with the highest professional business ethics when dealing with customers, colleagues, and government entities.
  • Analytical skills, coupled with strong technical abilities, and a genuine passion for existing and new technologies and technological advances.
  • Excellent communication and people skills are needed to succeed in this role. Ability to travel 25%.

Required Skills and Education:
  • Experience building and executing business development/sales activities and possess excellent customer service skills.
  • 5+ years proven business development, sales, and customer support management in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and closing new business opportunities in the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Proven ability to generate a continuous high quality sales pipeline.
  • Proven record of delivering high quality presentations and business.
  • proposals/contracts under tight timelines.
  • Highly organized in planning and time management, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’ s Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Candidates must meet all requirements under ITAR.
