Summary:

Accountable for field engineering support to the resort and supporting departments, including control systems engineering services for ride, show, and other ride related control systems.

These services include: planning, organizing, and leading teams in troubleshooting,  problem resolution,  system operational enhancement,  system reliability improvement,  and documentation.

Must have sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing in various disciplines, and to initiate appropriate corrective actions.

Respond to mechanical and control emergencies resulting from attraction downtimes at the resort.

Duties:
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical and management aspects of Sustaining Engineering projects.
  • Accountable for  the successful completion of Sustaining Engineering projects.
  • Ensure  electrical efforts comply with codes, e.g.,! IEEE, NFPA, ASTM, DOSH, NEC/CEC, etc.
  • Requires  extensive recurring contact with assigned Customers.
  • Prepare sketches and details that  reflect design requirements to facilitate preparation of detailed drawings, specifications and bills of materials.
  • Select  systems and equipment that will satisfy design parameters, applicable codes, and standards.
  • Assist in preparing  engineering proposals.
  • Produce specifications and develop scope of work documentation.
  • Monitor schedule(s).
  • Track project status and Attraction downtime trends.
  • Monitor control system performance to ensure systems  operate within established performance criteria.
  • Ensure  effective engineering, management, and Customer communications.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in ride control system technology, equipment and materials so that designs specify cost-effective, energy-efficient and reliable systems.
  • Perform risk analysis and inform management.
  • Responsible for  ensuring overall success of ride control function changes.
  • Ability  to work in a matrix organization.

Basic REQUIRED Qualifications:
  • Controls Systems experience with 1 year in the amusement park industry or industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Ride  element performance analysis: dynamic, kinematic, hydraulic and pneumatic analysis and calculations.
  • Knowledge  gained by experience in the following:
    • Electronic  control systems and signal processing  including familiarity with relays and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
    • Electrical  motor controls including Variable Frequency Drives and Soft Starts.
    • Various  Industrial Automation PLCs, e.g., Rockwell (Allen Bradley), Siemens, Mitsubishi, Yaskawa, etc.
    • National  and California Electrical Code.
    • Nationally  Recognized Testing Laboratory Certifications such as TUV, UL, etc.
    • AutoCAD
    • Object Oriented Programming, i.e. C/C++.
    • Ladder Logic
    • Wiring and Interconnet Diagrams
    • ANSI, ASTM, and IEEE standards
  • Excellent oral / written communication.

Basic PREFERRED Qualifications:
  • California Professional Registration.
  • Military electrical/electronic experience.
  • Knowledge gained by experience in the following:
    • Controls circuit design and/or troubleshooting
    • PDL - Program Design Language
    • tCL- lmagineer' s Control Language
    • Theory of Operations
    • Audio/Vlsual systems
    • Systems Reliability

Required Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in at least one of the following: Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited University.
