Under minimal supervision, works on all activities regarding the design, detail, construction, and modification of dies utilizing the CAD system by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reviews order requirements and customer specific requirements.
  • Confers with project team members to ensure that project objectives are addressed in the work plan.
  • Work from customer part prints to conceptualize, design and detail tool designs.
  • Create strip layouts and lead the design and detail efforts of progressive dies.
  • Provide technical support throughout the manufacturing and debug cycle of dies.
  • Examine to make certain that the drawings are dimensional and logistically correct.
  • Make customer contacts to discuss any specifications that may be necessary to effectively design the die.
  • Make certain that customer specifications are documented into the die design.
  • Attend die discussion for each assigned die design.
  • Attend and participate in die review meetings/technical discussions on assigned die designs.
  • Strives to exceed customer expectations as to performance, solution, and delivery commitment.
  • Actively participates as a design resource for multiple projects.
  • Actively participates and contributes ideas pertaining to the development of dies.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Comply with state and federal law safety regulations in addition to Company  safety and security procedures.
  • Adhere to company policies and state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment, including promoting a workplace free of discrimination and harassment.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods of time, and regularly travel between departments and divisions.

Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly have to travel through other departments. 
  • The atmosphere is a climatic office setting, and the employee will spend the majority of his/her time sitting at a computer terminal.

  • Must have experience in leading edge progressive die design concepts.
  • Must be able to provide unique/creative solutions.
  • Must have the ability to provide leadership as well as contribute within a team setting to obtain desired results.
  • Must be able to coach and mentor co-workers to increase their skills and abilities.
  • Must be able to think methodically and technically to ensure project success.
  • Must possess the skills to be technically aggressive when approaching and determining project solutions.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows applications.
  • Must be able to offer forward thinking ideas and innovative concepts.
  • Must possess knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Must have a working knowledge of CAD/CAM system.
  • Must have a working knowledge of manufacturing practices.
  • Must be able to communicate through written, verbal, or other means of communication.
  • Must be able to understand written correspondence. 
  • Must be able to wear personal protection equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and safety shoes.
  • Must be able to organize work and prioritize tasks.
  • Must have the ability and interpersonal skills to successfully work as a team member to obtain desired results.
  • Must be able to understand and apply work-related documents such as operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to understand and perform to job-related quality standards and methods.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be able to comply with U.S. export regulations.

Previous Education and Experience Qualifications:
  • Previous experience using Siemens NX6 preferred.
  • Previous experience using AutoCad 2014 and/or SolidWorks 2014 required.
  • Previous experience using Forming Simulation software preferred.
  • Successful completion of the engineering apprenticeship program or equivalent experience required.
  • 2 – 4 Years of advanced education or equivalent experience with emphasis in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred.
  • 10 years Engineering or Tool & Die design/development experience required.
