Under general supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, commissioning and general servicing of control systems. Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface.

Must have a thorough understanding of HVAC systems and apply this towards servicing and commissioning DDC programmable controllers using software engineering tools. Candidate must have excellent communication skills and a high level of self-confidence with the ability to work independently but also contribute as a team effort. Interpersonal skills to properly represent  to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner is a must.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Properly completes required project and service documentation and communicates status accordingly.
  • Maintaining the highest level of integrity and business acumen is a requirement.
  • Ability to troubleshoot any problem at any given time and adjust systems accordingly at last minute requests.
  • Diagnose and repair complex electronic control systems requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications to system software.
  • Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and as-built drawings.
  • Meets regularly with customer to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the nature of service provided outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and or repairs.
  • Promotes the company and maintains a relationship with customer.
  • Focused on " add-on" to increase work.
  • Manages assigned work to meet professional execution of time and customer satisfaction.
  • Able to multi-task and balance work load to meet deadlines and keep and executive effective time management.
  • Adheres to company and customer safety policies and standards. Must lead by example and model the way.
  • Provides safety awareness on work sites and enforces our company policies and rules.
  • Provides training to customers on electronic control system operations as directed as well as participate in contractor safety training and orientation.
  • Compiles job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training forms, training certificates.
  • Maintains a record of open items and punch lists for assigned jobs and provides to the project manager as required. (We use an Action Register in Thousand Oaks)
  • Perform other duties related to the commissioning and servicing of building controls and Facilities management systems as assigned.
  • Have the ability and capability to perform other tasks as needed such as electrical work, plumbing, painting, and repairing.

  • Facilities Technician with security, fire protection, energy management and HVAC experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field.
  • Minimum 2 years in HVAC experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in controls - building automation.
  • Familiar with California Code of Regulations, Title 24 Green Building Standards Code, Part 11 and Title 20 Appliance Efficiency Regulations.
  • Working knowledge of such programs as: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Working knowledge of Carrier i-Vu Building Automation System and Acuity Brand nLight SensorView Configuration and Monitoring Software a Plus.
