The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair activities on production and facility equipment and systems. This position will also assist with EH&S activities to maintain compliance.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform preventative maintenance on various pieces of equipment per schedule and document all preventative maintenance.
  • Provide building and clean room (Class 10, 000) maintenance.
  • Communicate and arrange with vendors to provide calibration or maintenance services of equipment, building, HVAC, lighting, etc.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Maintain RO/DI Purified Water System.
  • Writes reports and reviews/updates/creates standard operating procedures (SOPs) when needed.
  • Troubleshoots processes and equipment; develop and implement corrective action.
  • Completes detailed repair reports for production equipment.
  • Supports and assists in the development of continuous improvement programs and participates in the implementation of these programs throughout the facility as required.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance activities.
  • Uses power tools to fabricate or alter or adjust parts or components.
  • Operates and maintain building security systems.
  • The ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in a relevant field (technical, environmental, etc)  required with 3-4 years of experience in a medical device/pharmaceutical environment or regulated industry. 
  • Bachelor’ s degree preferred.
  • Forklift certification with minimum of one (1) year of experience utilizing equipment to move heavy objects and materials (Pallet Jack, dollies, etc.)
  • Intermediate knowledge of applicable GMP and ISO regulations and Federal and State Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health Regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, MassDEP).
  • Strong Mechanical aptitude (obtained through three to four years of experience) required.
  • Experience working with complex equipment using PLC controls.
  • Basic Knowledge of HVAC systems as applied to cleanrooms.
  • Knowledge of environmental controls.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of MS office.

Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge:
  • Any of the following licenses/certifications preferred: Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, HAZMAT, Industrial Wastewater or Pneumatic.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Associates Degree in a relevant field (technical, environmental, etc.)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience utilizing equipment to move heavy objects and materials (Pallet Jack, dollies, etc.).

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift 30lbs.
  • Must be able to bend and twist to accomplish tasks.
  • Must be able to wear all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which may include a respirator.
  • Must be able to shovel snow.

Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing Floor.
  • Office.
  • Outside of the facility; roof work as needed.
