The Field Technician will perform routine contractual inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on equipment both within the US and overseas, as allocated by the company. Technicians will ensure that the highest standards are maintained at all times. This position requires strong technical abilities, organizational skills, attention to detail and exhibition of a neat professional appearance.
Field Technicians are required to conduct themselves in a positive and proficient manner toward the client and members of the public while performing their duties. Technicians are required to document all work performed on site and also create site visit reports for the client. The Technician should be capable of providing training to the client operation or maintenance staff and make maintenance recommendations accordingly to prevent downtime.
Liaise with the customer upon arrival to site and when leaving the site and on a regular basis.
Adhere to all safety requirements and ensure safe-working conditions at all times.
Perform inspections and repairs within the scope of contracted work and carry out planned preventative maintenance.
Minimize disruption to the customer by carrying out the required work in a timely and effective manner.
Create and provide inspection, repair and service reports for the Manager, in some cases to be forwarded to the client.
Troubleshooting programmable logic controls (PLCs), power supplies, transformers, contactors, relays, variable frequency drives (VFD), fuses/circuit protections, ground fault circuit interruption, e-stop systems and Animation control systems.
Make adjustments and repairs to the water feature equipment as required. This will include replacing or overhauling proprietary devices, making adjustments on control system assemblies, changing scheduled events in the time clock, using computer programs to modify VFD parameters, upload new touch screen pages, make adjustments to transmitters and other components via a laptop computer, etc.
Able to support the client’ s needs by troubleshooting and utilizing his problem-solving skills.
Perform client training and demonstrate the operation of equipment.
Respond to breakdown requests.
Implement modifications to existing products to meet internal or external customer needs.
Modifications to existing products to ensure proper operation and record all settings for future reference.
Apply a certain level of flexibility with regards to functional skills in the application of duties to maximize the efficiency of the task assigned.
Identify any sales opportunities whilst on customer sites.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE WITH
A proven track record of fault diagnosis on electrical and mechanical systems.
Ability to demonstrate the various methods of Reliability / Trend analysis- IT and keyboard skills essential (excel, word essential desirable)
Ability to maintain and troubleshoot filtration and chemical treatment systems to ensure proper operation and safe water standards.
A good working knowledge of water flow, piping, plumbing and mechanical drawings.
Familiar with safe electrical practices and methods to problem solve any electrical/control system issue that may arise.
Ability to convey verbally and in written form problems, solutions and information pertaining to any
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, including, architectural, electrical and mechanical prints.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to properly adjust transmitters, level switches, air systems, lighting systems and operate control systems to ensure proper reliable performance.
Specific knowledge (hands-on commissioning or maintenance of electrical power distribution, motor and VFD controls.
Ability to work alone, unsupervised.
Willingness to travel globally upwards of 50% of the year.
Be proactive and maintain high attention to detail.
Good time keeping and the ability to work to targets.
Ability to learn proprietary equipment.
Three or more years of education/ training/ work experience in a related mechanical, electrical or other construction field.
One year of working in an outside client environment.
Must have a valid driver’ s license.
Valid International Passport is essential.
All Technicians must be able to travel anywhere worldwide to perform work on water features.
This is an active role; therefore, you must be fit & capable of climbing ladders etc.
