The Lead Engineer is responsible for design of in-house and collaborative projects with a strong focus on lighting and electrical engineering.The Lead Engineer works to develop and improve lighting products and serves as an SME throughout the company. Delivers LED product designs that impress customers with their performance and installation simplicity.Acts as a technical resource for our sales team for existing and new customers.  Provides leadership to other engineers within the Department. 

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Champion and conduct R&D efforts to design new and innovative products and product features. 
  • Liaise and advise Sourcing Department and suppliers on technical matters.
  • Serve as a technical authority on RVLT’ s products and the LED industry.
  • Conduct “ in the field” assessments.
  • Generate, review and understand formal engineering drawings and documents.
  • Keeps informed on lighting and LED technology.
  • Has a strong understanding of materials and production processes.
  • Provide guidance on proper application, installation, and use of products.
  • Educate non-engineers (Sales, Orders, Customer Service) on new and existing product offerings.
  • Drive on time delivery of new custom designs though project management and task execution.
  • Lead the improvement of quality controls throughout the production process to maximize for product reliability and guarantee the delivery of conforming product.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience as an engineer in a related engineering market.
  • Experience in the LED industry, a major plus
  • Minimum education of a BS in an engineering discipline.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Experience with people management.
  • Understanding of electrical circuits, heat transfer, and stress.
  • Experience with Design for manufacturability, preferred.
  • Background in Quality Control, a plus.
  • Proficient with spreadsheet and presentation tools.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience overcoming objections and can make things happen.
