Essential  Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualization of new designs based on existing proven designs and innovations.
  • Technical calculations in areas of mechanical design and packaging of High Speed rotating machinery.
  • Technical risk identification, mitigation plans as well as development and execution of alternate paths in the design.
  • Proven capability towards maintaining technical ownership of the design.
  • Detailing of components and parts; working with inside and outside resources to ensure optimum manufacturing efficiency and cost in design.
  • Design of associated assembly tooling for the machine fabrication.
  • Maintain the version updates on the history of the product in the PDMWorks Configuration Control vault or equivalent.
  • Ensure timely and correct technical release of drawings to meet project schedule.
  • Assist the other project team members in cross-functional activities when necessary.
  • Review drawings for completeness and accuracy.

Additional Responsibilities 
  • Design new products and make improvements to existing products.
  • Evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform basic analysis functions under guidance of analysis team.
  • Ensure timely completion of project design deliverables, including design, drawings, analysis and other documentation, as required.
  • Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Collaborate with other design engineers and mechanical engineers; coordinate with other members of the engineering staff to the project effort.
  • Perform a variety of tasks in the engineering team.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected from this position.

  • 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in machine design (or equivalent combination of education/experience).
  • Leadership with the ability to motivate and accomplish tasks through others.
  • Expert in GD&T standards and application to new designs.
  • Design of rotating machinery strongly preferred.
  • System integration experience, specifically with electro-mechanical systems, bearings and seals, a plus.
  • Experience interfacing with vendors and customers to incorporate their input into final product design.
  • Must have the ability to create detailed designs of products while incorporating best available manufacturing practices.
