Looking for a specialist in robotic autonomy and vision processing as well as an entrepreneurial spirit. The Principal Research Scientist (PRS) embodies both a strong technical element as well as the opportunity to build a thriving business unit in a rapidly growing company.
The company has become a leading developer of mobile manipulation by working closely with universities, research institutes, and the federal government to create manipulation systems that are light-weight, rugged, and powerful. Through research, have developed manipulators that are highly dexterous and easily controlled. The next horizon to mobile manipulation is the addition of greater autonomy of the system so that the systems can run with less supervision and in environments with highly limited bandwidth. The PRS will be a leader within the company to help to turn this vision into a reality.
Primarily, the Principal Research Scientist will be responsible for leading the technical development of autonomy and vision processing algorithm development. In addition, the ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit to help shape the direction of the company in this important area, help develop business cases, write proposals, and lead teams/projects to further our autonomy applications.
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or other related field with a minimum of 5 years of progressive research experience in artificial intelligence, automation, and/or vision processing.
- Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Demonstrated ability to persuade investment in a new idea or concept based on said research.
- Experience running projects and leading teams to reach objectives.
