Sheet metal design to add to our engineering team. This is a hands-on position which will involve a range of activities from design to manufacturing, and construction project management to customer support. Candidate must be a self-starter, persistent, intellectually curious, demonstrate flexibility and creativity within a dynamic environment and work independently with a minimum of supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages and uses time wisely.
  • High importance given to deadlines and schedules.
  • Prepare material Take offs and works with the purchasing department.
  • Create Bills of Material, and release procurement using Made2Manage software.
  • Generate fabrication drawings, as well as DXF’ s for manufacturing.
  • Detail ceiling systems based on customer specifications and requirements.
  • Validate shop drawing designs/details by comparing quote, architectural drawings, and shop drawings.
  • Determines/Assigns the creation of shop drawings from architectural drawings, revisions and submittals of shop drawings as necessary.
  • Create a final set of shop drawings for installation to be supplied to the customer at the time of shipment, and provides customer installation support as requested.
  • Design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components.
  • Provide necessary support to manufacturing.
  • Works closely with estimated budget and quotes to minimize material waste. Reduces costs wherever possible while keeping material procurement within or under allotted budget.
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to Project Managers.
  • Work with Project Managers to initiate change orders when necessary.
  • Assist project manager in resolving engineering issues/questions from the customer, and the shop.
  • Proactively communicate with internal customers to ensure project success and uses time and resources wisely, to help ensure project schedule is maintained.
  • Prioritizes tasks efficiently and resolve issues in a timely fashion.
  • Have the ability to break down a complex project into manageable portions for the engineering team.
  • Double checks own work to ensure accuracy and eliminate mistakes.
  • Quality Checks other Engineer’ s work as needed.
  • Assist engineers in resolving design issues by brainstorming and providing some guidelines to approach the issue.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.

  • Intermediate to advanced user of AutoCAD 2016 2d/3d software, SolidWorks or Inventor.
  • Ability to read & interpret Architectural drawings and details.
  • Understanding of Manufacturing / Production Environment.
  • Ability to use MS Office software such as Excel & Outlook.

Desired Skills
  • Use of AutoCAD 2016 2d software, and adheres to company drafting standards.
  • 3d modeling skills and proficiency with, using either one or all three of the following: Solidworks 2016, AutoCAD 2016, or Rhino 5.
  • A higher than average level of technical skill is required.
  • A proven reputation for success is desired and motivates others as well as themselves to learn more, implement new industry techniques, and constantly works to try new things that will improve our processes.

Additional Preferred, but not Required Background and Skills:
  • Sheet metal Engineering experience.
  • Architectural building plan experience.
  • Solidworks user.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • CNC programming knowledge or experience.
  • Structural engineering knowledge or experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Material Procurement.
  • Wood industry background.
  • Design experience.
  • BIM Modeling.
  • Familiarity with M2M software.
  • Rhino / Grasshopper user.
  • Sci-Arc education.

  • BS in Engineering or Architecture or other appropriate undergraduate degree.
