Conduct Quality audits, prepare reports, analyze QA data, participate/lead Problem Solving efforts with Suppliers and Engineering, and lead Continuous Improvement projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities-  include the following, other duties may be assigned:
  • Audit purchased material and components to specification requirements.
  • Audit MPI produced products to specification requirements.
  • Perform surveillance tests/ inspections to insure that components and assemblies meet applicable specifications, drawings, procedures, codes, and standards.
  • Audit MPI processes against ISO requirements.
  • Prepare  reports and other required documentation, using MS Office, Access, Adobe, Oracle and various software/hardware products.
  • Perform process audits and prepare reports, both internally and at suppliers.
  • Perform analyses and project plans for Continuous Improvement and COPQ reduction.
  • Prepare and process Non-Conformance Reports using company  and/or AAR instructions and procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews and communicate issues between Quality Assurance and other departments.
  • Prepare and publish Quality Alert postings and monitor/maintain shop floor QA metrics.
  • Complete commitment to company  safety policies and procedures at all times, in outdoor, office and shop areas.

Qualifications:
  • Use of computer equipment and networks including MS Office software products, company systems and databases.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills with individuals and groups.
  • Company  product knowledge including railroad locomotives and rail equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering and similar technical documents and specifications.
  • Ability to read and understand contract documents and customer technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of shop floor mechanical, electrical, welding, painting and testing processes.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Problem solving method.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in one or more technical fields such as mechanical, electrical, test.
  • Prior Quality Audit experience preferred, locomotive experience helpful, Oracle and MS Office.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, including process layout.
  • Some Experience with statistics preferred.

  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:
  • Employee must be able to work in locations more than four feet above the ground which requires the use of fall protection equipment. 
  • Employee will occasionally work around equipment moving through the shop.
  • Worker may be subject to minimal fumes, odors, dusts, gases, that may affect the skin or respiratory system. 
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided.
  • Minimal travel is expected but may be required.
