Responsible for mechanical engineering and design in support of our customers products. 

Essential Functions:
  • Mechanical design of complex motion simulation equipment from a component level to a system level utilized in the testing of inertial guidance components and sensors of various types. 
  • Specific examples would include inertial guidance test equipment and systems, linear and rotary actuators, including stress and stiffness analysis of structures, sizing of motors, actuators and drives, and sizing and selection of bearings and other mechanical and electro-mechanical components to assure conformance to contractual requirements.
  • Prepare acceptance test procedures and customer acceptance test documents.  Prepare system and maintenance manuals. 
  • Technical interface with customers and vendors during all phases of the project and post system delivery.
  • Direct project management of complex motion simulation equipment and systems, which includes managing the project budget and schedule, and preparing and delivering customer presentations.
  • Function as the project team leader and the customer point-of-contact.
  • Lead, direct and mentor mechanical designers and engineers.
  • This may include allocating and managing design and engineering activities. 
  • Perform duties under general supervision.

Additional Responsibilities:     
  • Perform other engineering work and special projects as directed.

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required.             
  • Strong rotating equipment design and analysis skills from component level to system level.
  • Experience using solid modeling tools, Autodesk Inventor preferred
  • Experience using FEA software, ideally ANSYS, is a MUST.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a related engineering environment. 
  • Proven record of consistently delivering strong output;  Cross-functional engineering skills expected at this level. Able to assume total project technical responsibility.
  • Ability to manage a large number of projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrates basic leadership abilities.
  • Able to coach and mentor Engineers and Designers.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must possess strong time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated team leadership in problem solving, project implementation, and continuous improvement activities.

Physical Demands:  
  • This position is primarily performed by sitting.
  • The incumbent needs to occasionally move about inside the office and/or manufacturing area to access office equipment and company products.
  • Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit and stand needed in order to perform job duties.

Physical Environment:  
  • This position is primarily performed in an office environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job the incumbent must follow strict adherence to established safety standards.
