We are looking for a new colleague to join our client's Purchasing Department at our plant in Charleston, South Carolina responsible for Air Compressors and Remanufactured Products.
**(Product Line such as Air Compressors is not a requirement) **
Position Responsibilities:
- Support projects through procurement of all materials needed for a particular product line.
- Support the implementation of commodity strategies and execute design change initiatives to deliver VAVE savings.
- Manage the whole purchasing process for new products or localization of existing products through supplier search and Bill of Material cost management; support the commodity organization in their request for quotations, commercial negotiations, contractual agreements including warranty and consignment agreements, prototype orders, and purchase orders and/or scheduling agreements.
- Monitor the performance of the suppliers during program launch and through product life cycle.
- Continuously review cost performance to target; nominate parts for Global Competitive Sourcing.
- Analyze North American supply base to prepare and recommend suppliers to be added/removed from the approved supplier list as well as nominate suppliers for the Strategic Supplier List.
- Perform market research and monitor changes/trends for purposes of benchmarking and cost controlling.
- Track costs through life cycle of product, while maintaining detailed cost tracking with suppliers.
- Explore methods/materials for total cost management and cost structure analysis.
- Update tracking tools according to industry best practices and company policy.
- Support product line escalations and followup with respective commodity buyers as needed.
- English language skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a professional purchasing capacity (i.e., technical/commodity purchasing, purchasing project management, purchasing management, etc.)
- Experience with supplier analysis and evaluation (i.e., quality, capacity, cost, etc.)
- Experience with supplier bidding process, negotiation, and cost estimate.
- Experience with APQP and/or project management tools and methods.
- Deep knowledge of purchasing tools, negotiation methods, and business communications.
- Deep Knowledge of cost improvement/containment topics and techniques.
- Experience with SAP and Excel (Pivot Tables, Formulas, Filters).
- Ability/willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Spanish or German language skills.
- Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or related field.
- C.P.P. (Certified Purchasing Professional) Certification.
- 3+ years of experience with highlevel/complex business and/or purchasing negotiations.
- Working knowledge in blueprint reading, statistics, PPAP documentation, product costing, and specifications.
- Experience in the Automotive industry.

- Automotive Experience:
- (Assembly, Mechanical, Castings, Aluminum)
- Program Manager, Purchasing/Buying Experience (Electrical, Electronic Candidates will not qualify for this role)
- BS Degree Required
- 5+ Years of related experience
- Knowledge and Experience with APQP/PPAPS
