With limited management consultation, this position, serving as a recognized authority in one or more engineering fields, conceptualizes and articulates innovative resolutions to highly technical and complex engineering problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides focal point for technical communication with senior internal and external customers on technical matters throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to conceptualize and articulate to senior management and external customers innovative resolutions to highly technical and complex controls problems, and keep the team focused on the most important activities in a dynamic environment while meeting critical milestones.
  • Act in an advisory capacity for requirements gap fulfillment on algorithm direction and design ideas, planning of engineering releases, meeting strategic objectives and promoting the technical knowledge transfer in the group.
  • Provides direction to create products from engineering solutions to increase the sector’ s revenue stream by collaborating with business development personnel.
  • Directs modeling and development of control algorithms for electric motors and analyzes control algorithms.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive experience in modern and classical controls including the stability analysis of nonlinear systems.
  • Direct design and implementation of controls for nonlinear systems.
  • Direct the implementation Predictive Controls for nonlinear systems.
  • Direct design and implementation Signal Processing for controls; as well as design test environment for controls algorithms and evaluation of test data.
  • Direct the development of IP networking and serial communications applications, including application interaction and data transfer protocols.
  • Direct the development fully embedded software control applications.
  • Determines the development process documentation, including requirements and design specifications and test plans and procedures.
  • Determine approach/solutions for the design, development and/or modification of specific programs or projects for controls applications.
  • Anticipates long-term plans of application development and deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards on specific programs or projects.
  • Evaluate integration of software applications with the overall computing environment.
  • Provide and coordinate white paper documentation, testing, maintenance, and software updates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, thirteen or more years of experience with a masters degree, or ten or more years with a PhD.
  • Must be a nationally recognized expert in one or more engineering fields as demonstrated by: original work(s) published in national professional engineering journals; invited presentations to national engineering symposiums; participation as Chair on national engineering review panels; and, engineering patents held.
  • Has demonstrated leadership ability by directing/developing the solution(s) to highly technical and complex engineering problems, and has been a key participant in attracting and retaining engineering business as well as professional staff.

Required Abilities:
  • Guide the resolution of unusually complex technical problems.
  • Champion the development of new concepts and principles, and serve as an expert spokesperson on those concepts and principles.
  • Must also possess excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be customer focused, and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment.
  • Able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
