Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Description
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for strategic quality systems, investigating, analyzing and correcting problems in quality, production and control at a supplier location as well as perform audits and to implement new strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and improves the selection process for suppliers and manufacturing partners CMs, ODMs.
- Develops relationships with manufacturing partners to resolve issues related to long lead time raw materials, capacity, sole source and other constrains that arise in the design and scale up phases within the Supply Chain.
- Handles communications and negotiations with suppliers while ensuring specification and quality standards are met.
- Assist with a wide array of additional functions as necessary within rapid growth R&D environment.
- Drive schedule speed, recovery and corrective action as needed
- Reviewing our manufacturing specifications to identify the processes and materials needed for production.
- Visiting vendor facilities and observing the manufacturing environment to review and assess their procedures.
- Performing regular quality control audits to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with company and federal standards.
- Reviewing incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.
- Conducting tests and assessments on products to identify quality issues.
- Maintaining detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
- Providing technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
- Serving as a liaison between our company's senior management and the vendors to identify quality issues and come up with solutions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Travel required up to 40% of time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- 3+ years’ experience in Quality Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or Test Engineering.
- Good working knowledge of quality control standards and government compliance.
- Experience with manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles.
