Job Description
Job Summary
The test engineer will perform related duties consisting of supporting all aspects of electronic
products testing. Experience with power conversion equipment such as AC sources, solar inverters, or UPS systems is highly desirable. This position will utilize Visual Studio (C#) software programming under Windows to debug, modify, and create test software. The position also consists of maintaining/creating/modifying hardware and software for PCB and assembly level test fixtures. A strong background in electronic circuits and troubleshooting is necessary in order to identify and correct test defects. This is a “hands-on” position that works closely with other departments including engineering, sales, and customer service.
Work environment
This job operates primarily in an air-conditioned electronics assembly and manufacturing work environment.
Duties and Assignments
Essential functions:

- Support production test as needed for all products to resolve technical issues and assure that products pass all performance criteria. Aid other departments with technical problems as required.
- Design of simple to moderately complex analog and digital electronic circuits and follow these designs through to implementation.
- Perform failure analysis and report on product issues to determine root cause of failures.
- Generate test instructions and documentation for Operations to more easily and accurately test products
- Maintain, modify, or develop C# code as needed to test Units, Assemblies, and Circuit boards.
- Maintain, modify, or develop test fixtures as needed to test Units, Assemblies, and Circuit
- boards.
- Troubleshoot Units, Assemblies, and Circuit boards and help train test technicians.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a Salaried, Exempt position.
- The weekly schedule will be Monday – Friday, from approximately 8:00am to 5:00pm Pacific.
Skills/Qualifications
- A solid working knowledge of software programming under Windows. Experience with Visual C# or Visual Studio development environment is highly desirable.
- Experience with integrating various types of test equipment into SW controlled fixtures. Knowledge of SCPI is desirable.
- Proficiency with common engineering design tools like schematic capture and board layout software (e.g. Protel, OrCad, Altium or equivalent). Experience with simulation software (Spice) is desirable.
- Ability to interact well with co-workers in all functional areas of the company, good interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn and share knowledge and experience with other employees.
- Good command of the English language. Strong written and oral communication skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and simple database applications
Education/Experience
- Must have B.S.E.E. or equivalent formal schooling and 5+ years' experience in the testing and or engineering support of electronic products. Familiarity with inverters, high power (2KW+) switching amplifiers or AC power supplies is highly desirable. Experience in testing or engineering support of analog and digital power and control circuits is necessary.
- Work history must show a track record of progressive technical competency.
