Job Overview

Company' s Tooling Teams perform the manufacturing functions related to metal working dies and tool making. They are responsible for completing all assignments to construct, modify and condition metal working dies and may fabricate new gages, cutting or forming tools and fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models and engineering or shop specifications. They perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions; recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered; and solve problems relating to unusual materials, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production process. Every team member is responsible for maintaining housekeeping and organization of the work area as well as following Company' s EH&S policies and procedures.

  • Clean, sharpen, maintain, inspect, and modify tooling & machines as needed to support the changing workloads in production
  • Visualize and comprehend the best matching practices necessary to complete a part
  • Produce quality component parts in conformance with engineering by reading blue prints, interpreting shop math, and running operations on various machines
  • Perform first piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, height indicators, etc.
  • Hold tight tolerances (+/- .0002”) for critical components using various gaging equipment
  • Troubleshoot issues and work with appropriate resources (i.e. Engineering, Supervisor, Inspection, etc.) to resolve production related issues
  • Exhibit flexibility, understanding, and willingness to change priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Operate precision measurement devices
  • Perform preventative maintenance and tooling conditioning

  • High School Diploma or GED required (ITAR)
  • Minimum 4 years manufacturing machinist experience preferred
  • Experience with blueprint is required
  • Associates Degree or Tool & Die certificate preferred
  • Blueprint Reading experience required
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Basic Math Skills Minimum

Physical Requirements:
  • May be required to lift 20lbs on occasion
  • Visual acuity to inspect small defects, operate machines, use measuring devices, and complete assembly/fabrication of small parts
  • Manual dexterity to move hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
