Tower Technician-Lead

Job Over View: A Lead Tower Technician  should be able to proficiently identify safety hazards, solutions, a full understanding of RF configurations, testing, and troubleshooting any problems on the tower. You will  help  train and develop more junior technicians. This employee must be motivated and capable of supervising and communicating tasks others on the job site. 


  • Layout and install an Ice Bridge and perform proper use of cad welds
  • Build out a tower platform on the grand and properly install on the tower with exposure to a cathead
  • Properly route and secure hybrid cables and hybrid jumpers
  • Fabricate steel in the field and on the tower
  • Wire in Raycaps and install Flash Technology lighting controllers
  • Troubleshoot fiber, power and RF issues utilizing the PIM/ Sweep gear and fiber tester
  • Ability to understand Construction Drawing, Structural Analysis, RFDS, Plumbing Diagrams and understanding Configurations
  • Properly take Pre-Construction and Closeout photos
  • Rig a tower in a Class III rigging scenario
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Safety Expectations:
  • Ensure you and your team are working on a safe job site always
  • Participate in completion of the JSA/tool box talk daily report
  • PPE must always be worn
  • Your team must be tied off 100% of the time
  • Be familiar with the safety manual on site and know where it is located
  • Ensure there is a safety rescue kit and it has all necessary equipment in it
  • Ensure there is a complete first aid kit, a working fire extinguisher and water on site
  • Make sure worksite is always free of trash, debris, and tripping hazards
  • Must always be drug and alcohol free on the job site

Success Factors:
  • May be required to work day, evening or night hours, overtime, weekends and out-oftown assignments
  • Able to travel in multiple states throughout the U.S. with or without notice to meet project deadlines. Must be able to stay deployed for the duration of the job
  • Comfort and ability to work at heights, including (but not limited to) on towers, ladders, aerial lifts, poles or rooftops
  • Ability to work well with a team or alone if necessary
  • Willingness and ability to work outside in all weather conditions and altitudes
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to lift over 50 pounds

Experience and Education:

Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in the position/career field associated with a Tower Technician II.

Experience and Education/Required Certifications:
  • Climber Certification/Rescue Card
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Ability to climb up to 500+ft
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • RF Awareness Training
