Job Description
Transportation Engineer/Project Engineer
Job Duties:
- Serve as transportation engineer/project engineer for roadway/transportation projects for IDOT, Tollway, or Local Agency (Municipality, Divisions of Transportation) projects, either locally-funded or state/federally-funded
- Provide guidance, leadership and training to design team (design engineer, interns, co-op students)
- Communicate with clients, contractors and staff on various roadway design projects
- Coordinate with stakeholders
- Prepare contract documents for projects ranging from resurfacing to multi-lane widening projects (Phase I & II engineering design)
- Responsible for development of project plans including (but not limited to) removal plans, plan & profile, drainage & utility, traffic staging, traffic signal, roadway cross-sections, erosion/sediment control, landscape restoration, pavement marking & signing etc.
- Generate estimates of cost, time, and project deliverable schedules
- Prepare contract specifications and front-end bid documentation
- Participate in design/client meetings
- Participate in resolution of design, field, and scheduling issues
- Limited travel required (client meetings, occasional training, etc.) – mileage reimbursement per State of Illinois policy
- Participate in assignments for Proposal/Statements of Interest for prospective projects as part of a group effort
Minimum Requirements:
- BS in Civil Engineering
- Fully Eligible to Work in U.S.
- 2+ years professional engineering experience
- Licensed Engineer Intern (preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (if experience over 5 years)
- Excellent written and oral communications
- Excellent organizational and management skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Bentley GeoPAK or Microstation InRoads experience desired
- AutoCAD Civil3D experience desired
